Breathe
One word reminded me to let my breath out. This one simple thing relaxed my shoulders. Why do we always forget to breathe when we’re stressed? We’re humans. It’s instinctive to us.
Enjoy
A glass of wine on the porch after a rough storm blew through the area. One sip and I could feel my muscles relaxing. Two sips and my mind was unwinding. Three sips and I was ready for a nap.
Smile
It matters not how you think your smile looks to someone else. Just smile. Who cares if your teeth aren’t perfectly white or straight? Frankly, that’s kind of boring. A crooked smile makes you think “okay, what’s up with this person?” Smile and make the rest of us guess what’s up with you.
Refocus
Nothing works better to refocus on your goals than to get away from them for a while. Step back. Get out of the tunnel that’s your vision. Take a new look at the direction you’re headed.
Laugh
At yourself. At the people around you. With the people around you. At the world. Let your laugh out as if it’s been a prisoner for a long time. Free it and everyone will join you.
Revive
Being by the sea always revives me. Smell the air, watch the gulls coast through the sky, catch a glance at a boat or ship in the distance. Take a nap.
Restore
Take a nap already! Honestly, all you need is 20 minutes to feel restored. If it’s longer, then let your body tell you what it needs. Wake up and do what you want. Restore the you that people know, love and admire.
Relax
It can be hard to relax after all you’ve been through and seen. Add to that how you may have had to fight to get your work published or to get out of the country you were in. Perhaps it’s the night that plagues you. For now, you are in the company of people who have a similar profession and who know what it’s like to be you. Relax. We’ve got your back.
There are still some spots available if you wish to join us. We would be honored to have you there.
