Average People Stepping Up

The sea evacuation of lower Manhattan became the biggest boat lift ever known. Bigger than Dunkirk. Boats came to Manhattan and picked up scores of people standing at the sea walls, after the World Trade Center came down. Tom Hanks narrates this 11-minute film on the events of the day.
We think of those who were there that day, and all those who have followed to step up and help, never turning their back to the need of a fellow being. They’re an inspiration to us, and it’s why we’re here.
